STRUCTURAL READINESS OFFICER

Summary

Under the guidance and supervision of the Education/Project Manager, the Structural Readiness Officer is responsible for planning and coordinating activities associated with establishing the Shibogama Education Authority. The incumbent will prepare reports on the implementation and progress of project activities; and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plan and coordinate activities to establish the Shibogama Education Authority including engaging lawyers, scheduling, meetings, reporting and document control
  2. Facilitate meetings
  • Work with the communities on planning second-level service enhancements that will be controlled by the Authority. Ensure that indigenous culture, values, and governance systems/structures are reflected in the “make-up” of the authority
  • Ensure professional standards of work are maintained. Ensure consultant and others associated with the project adhere to provided timelines and deliverables
  1. Ensure documentation is maintained throughout the length of the project
  2. Develop and oversee communication plan, risk management plan, and other documents as deemed necessary
  3. Conduct community engagement activities
  4. Prepare information packages, fliers/posters, and brochures for informational purposes
  5. Address, or refer to the manager, any issues that may arise during the project
  6. Build and manage relationships with various teams within the communities eg. LEAs, Chief and Councils and educators; and with the Shibogama team
  7. Keep track of budget, ensure financial procedures are observed, and projected costs are not exceeded
  8. Use of social media (especially Facebook) and online platforms for communication, collaboration, and community involvement
  9. Produce progress reports and make presentations
  10. Any other duties consistent with the position.

QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

Degree/diploma in business management or project management

At least 2 years experience working as project officer

Fluency in Oji-cree would be an asset

Experience working with and/or in First Nations

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent time management skills

Ability to adapt to changing environments and timelines

Excellent attention to detail

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to organize priorities based on deadlines

Excellent presentation skills

Knowledge of basic computer programs and basic typing abilities

Ability to work with various types of personalities

Reports to: Education/Project Manager

Salary Range $60,000-$70,000
