Summary

The Associate Health Director is responsible for planning, evaluation and collaboration with the Health Director. Decision making support for programming and special projects, as well as supporting Tribal Council and community-level health planning. Administers the compilation of reports that will assist the Director with service planning, project updates, performance indicators, budgetary analysis and accountability to communities and funders. Coordination of Communication and information sharing strategies. Advocacy and representation on Health matters with Partners and Stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications

Several years’ experience administrating First Nations social, health and wellness programs or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Good working knowledge in computer applications including Microsoft Office, Data Base Operations.

Excellent organizational skills, professionalism, and time management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills with co-workers, communities, and candidates.

Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Ability to travel to remote and isolated member communities and job fairs in urban areas.

Asset Qualifications

Member with Certification of the First Nations Health Manager Association

A Degree or Diploma in a Health-Related Field

Ability to communicate effectively in one of the dialects of the Treaty 5 and/or 9 Territories.

Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment)

Knowledge and understanding of the Social Determinants of Health in First Nation Remote and Isolated Communities.
